  • Hugh McLaughlin (1766-1845) was born in Virginia and moved to Pocahontas County in the early 1800s. He married Elizabeth Wiley, and they had 10 children.

  • John McLaughlin (1792-1862) was a son of Hugh McLaughlin. He was a farmer and a merchant in the Huntersville area of Pocahontas County. He married Anne Wiley, and they had 10 children.

  • Squire Hugh McLaughlin (1801-1870) was another son of Hugh McLaughlin. He was a farmer, a merchant, and a member of the Pocahontas County Court. He married Nancy Gwinn, and they had 7 children.

  • George Henry McLaughlin (1827-1904) was a son of Squire Hugh McLaughlin. He was a farmer and a merchant in the Marlinton area of Pocahontas County. He married Ruhamah Wiley, and they had 10 children.

  • William Jacob McLaughlin (1829-1899) was another son of Squire Hugh McLaughlin. He was a farmer and a merchant in the Gum Hollow area of Pocahontas County. He married Sara Gum and Susan Bible, and he had 11 children.
