Headline: Josiah Cline, 80, Marries Birdie Coulter, 24
The week before last Josiah Cline, aged 80 years, and Birdie Coulter, aged 24 years, were united in marriage by Rev. Jacob Perry. Josiah has for many years had a great antipathy to having his hair cut, and as he appeared on the marriage floor with his snowy, disheveled locks nestling on his hickory shirt and buckskin suspenders, made doubly conspicuous by the absence of a coat, he presented a sight that was calculated to excite the risibilities of any one.
After the marriage ceremony the following dialogue took place between Josiah and Mr. Perry:
Josiah: "I'm obleeged to ye, parson, and as soon as I git some corn that is comin' to me I will pay you. That corn must come now and no foolin'."
Mr. Perry: "All right; good day."
Josiah: "Hold on, parson. Won't yer stay fer dinner ?"
Mr. Perry: "No, thank you; good morning."
Josiah: "Good mornin', parson."
