Does a horse have a heel or a toe?

When I was young this question came up at church.  Thanks to AI we now have an answer!

Horses have both heels and toes.

The horse's hoof is divided into three parts: the toe, the quarters, and the heels. The toe is the front part of the hoof, the quarters are the sides, and the heels are the back.

The heels of the horse's hoof are very important for shock absorption and support. They are made up of a tough, elastic material called the frog, which helps to cushion the horse's foot as it hits the ground. The heels also contain the bars, which are two horny ridges that extend back from the sides of the hoof. The bars help to keep the hoof wall strong and stable.

The toes of the horse's hoof are less important for shock absorption, but they are still important for traction. The toes are made up of a harder, more durable material than the heels. This helps to prevent the toes from wearing down too quickly.

So, to answer your question directly, yes, horses have both heels and toes.
