An offer of $ 5,000 to be applied on a new courthouse was made , if the people of tho county would change the scat from Huntersville to liarlintor . The election hold in the fall of 1891 gave the county seat to Marlinton . At this time Marlinton had a population of about one hundred people . ( 38 )
