Dear Teenager...

Dear ....,

I'm a teenager and I'm starting to ask myself some big questions about religion. Here are five questions that I'm wrestling with right now:

  1. How can I know that God is real?
  • Bible verse:"For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities--his eternal power and divine nature--have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse." (Romans 1:20)

  • Thoughts: There are many evidences for the existence of God, both in the natural world and in our own human experience. For example, the complex order and design of the universe point to a Creator. Additionally, our own innate sense of morality and our longing for purpose and meaning in life suggest that there is something more to us than just physical matter.

  1. What does it mean to have a relationship with God?
  • Bible verse: "If you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." (Romans 10:9)

  • Thoughts: Having a relationship with God is about more than just believing in his existence. It's about getting to know him and trusting him. We can do this through prayer, Bible study, and worship. As we grow closer to God, we will experience his love and grace in our lives.

  1. How do I deal with doubt?
  • Bible verse:"Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me." (Psalm 23:4)

  • Thoughts: Everyone experiences doubt from time to time. It's important to remember that doubt is not the same as unbelief. Doubt can actually be a sign of faith, because it shows that we are willing to question and explore our beliefs. If you're struggling with doubt, don't be afraid to reach out to a trusted mentor or pastor for help.

  1. How can I live a life that is pleasing to God?
  • Bible verse: "So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God." (1 Corinthians 10:31)

  • Thoughts: When we live our lives to please God, we are putting him first in everything we do. This means seeking his will for our lives and making choices that are in line with his teachings. It also means being kind, loving, and compassionate to others.

  1. What happens after we die?
  • Bible verse:"For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Romans 8:38-39)

  • Thoughts: The Bible teaches that those who have placed their faith in Jesus Christ will have eternal life. This means that they will be with God forever after they die. While we don't know exactly what heaven will be like, we know that it will be a place of perfect love, joy, and peace.

Dear ...., I hope these questions and answers have been helpful. If you have any other questions about religion, please feel free to contact me.

A Teenager

In addition to the above, here are some other resources that may be helpful for teenagers who are exploring their faith:

  • The Bible: The Bible is the best resource for learning about God and his plan for our lives. There are many different translations of the Bible available, so find one that is easy to read and understand.
  • Christian books and websites: There are many great Christian books and websites that can provide resources on a variety of topics, such as faith, doubt, relationships, and living a Christian life.
  • Youth groups and Bible studies: Many churches offer youth groups and Bible studies for teenagers. These groups can provide a great opportunity to connect with other Christian teenagers and learn more about your faith.
  • Mentors and pastors: If you have questions about your faith, don't be afraid to reach out to a trusted mentor or pastor for help. They can provide guidance and support as you grow in your faith.
