Sad News For Pocahontas County

 downsizing a school

As we all may know, due to cuts at Pocahontas County High School, classes and teachers are being lost.

This is a very sad situation for the county and the school itself. With these cuts being made, it results in the loss of classes that students at PCHS are offered.

Some of these classes are:

From Glenville:
DE: Anatomy Physiology 1- 4 Credit hours
DE: Anatomy Physiology 2- 4 credit hours
DE: Medical Terminology- 3 credit hours
DE: Nutrition- 3 Credit hours
Surveying- 3 Credit hours.
From Marshall:
DE: Physics- 4 credit hours
Classes offered by PCHS:
Forensics
Physics
Anatomy Physiology
Now, these are just science classes but, there are math classes and classes from the STEM program that follow with that list. Some of which are:
Math:
College Algebra
Statistics
Calculus
And ALL support classes
For the STEM program:
ACT/SAT Prep class
Robotics
Computer science

It’s so sad to see all the potential in the school being removed.

As of now, students are coming together to write emails and letters to the WVBOE regarding their concerns to the cuts. If you wish to hear or speak upon the situation there will be a BoE meeting held and Greenbank Elementary Middle School on March 26th, at 4pm.

If you aren’t able to make it to the meeting please feel free to post your opinion to the PCHS Buzz page.

Please, spread the word!
Let everyone hear about the situation at PCHS!!!
