The Depot at Clover Lick is a fascinating place. It was once a very busy station, handling 22,539 tons of freight in 1913 and 4,842 passengers in 1916. The station was built in 1900, but it closed in 1952.
In 1995, the Greenbrier River Trail Association, a local 501c3, purchased the depot and restored the exterior. They also added a deck and handicapped access, and moved the depot back to its current location next to the Greenbrier River Trail.
Eating lunch on the deck of the depot is a great way to experience its history. You can imagine the hustle and bustle of the station in its heyday, when people were coming and going by train.
