Clover Lick

Clover Lick is located along the Greenbrier River, 14 miles (16 km) northeast of Marlinton. The community is home to the Clover Lick Train Depot, which sits along the Greenbrier River Trail at Milepost 71.2.

Clover Lick was founded in the early 1900s as a place to board trains traveling along the Greenbrier River. The train depot was built in 1900 and was a busy place for many years. In 1913, 22,539 tons of freight were shipped out from the depot and in 1916, 4,842 passengers boarded the train at Clover Lick. However, the train depot closed in 1952 as passenger rail service declined.

The Clover Lick Train Depot was restored in the 1990s and is now a popular stop for hikers and bikers on the Greenbrier River Trail. The depot is also a reminder of Clover Lick's history as a railroad town.

In addition to the train depot, Clover Lick also has a few other historical buildings, including a former schoolhouse and a general store. The community is also home to a small cemetery.

Today, Clover Lick is a quiet community with a population of just a few dozen people. However, it is a popular destination for outdoor recreation enthusiasts. The Greenbrier River Trail runs through the community and there are several hiking and camping opportunities in the surrounding area.

If you are looking for a peaceful place to enjoy the beauty of the West Virginia mountains, Clover Lick is a great option.
