Let Love Be Genuine: A Devotion on Romans 12:9-10

"The echoes of silence speak the loudest truths, waiting only for a listening heart to unbind them."

Let Love Be Genuine: A Devotion on Romans 12:9-10

The world is a symphony of voices, each vying for our attention, urging us towards something, pulling us in different directions. In this cacophony, a quiet yet compelling melody rises from the heart of Scripture: "Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. Love one another deeply as brothers and sisters." (Romans 12:9-10) These verses, woven with threads of simplicity and depth, offer a potent antidote to the chaos, a clarion call to a transformative way of being.

But what does it mean to "let love be genuine"? Is it the fleeting flutter of affection, the warm glow of familiarity, or something deeper, more substantial? Genuine love, in the spirit of these verses, isn't fleeting fancy or performative kindness. It's a deliberate choice, a conscious commitment to the well-being of another, an active resistance against the tide of indifference and self-interest. It's choosing to see beyond faults and flaws, to embrace vulnerability and imperfections, to hold space for others in their messy humanity.

And finally, "Love one another deeply as brothers and sisters." This love transcends the boundaries of blood and clan.  We are woven together in the tapestry of humanity, threads of shared breath and shared stories. To love deeply as brothers and sisters is to recognize this kinship, to celebrate our differences, and to offer comfort in times of pain, support in times of struggle, and joy in times of triumph.

In swirling skirts of starlight spun,
Love's rhythm sets the heart to sing.
Two souls, like constellations none,
Embrace, entwine, take wing.

Through whispered steps and silent leaps,
A language spoken just for two.
A symphony of stolen peeps,
Where moonbeams paint the canvas true.

With fingers dipped in dewdrop tears,
They trace the lines upon the night.
In laughter hushed, in whispered fears,
Their souls ignite, ablaze with light.

Across the canvas vast they glide,
A graceful tango spun in space.
No need for words, for they confide
In glances, dreams, an endless grace.

Through shadows deep and valleys dim,
Love's torch burns bright, forevermore.
A whispered vow, a tender hymn,
In every step, love's essence poured.

So let the music ever play,
A waltz of souls, forever bound.
The Dance of Love, a timeless sway,
Where whispered hearts on starlight sound.
