The Warwick sisters

The Warwick sisters were Mary and Nancy Warwick, who taught in Pocahontas County, West Virginia in the early 1800s. They were the daughters of Andrew Warwick, a pioneer settler in the area. Mary was born in 1788 and Nancy was born in 1790. They both married and had families, but they continued to teach school. They were known for their kindness and dedication to their students.

The Warwick sisters taught at a schoolhouse in the Edray area of Pocahontas County. The schoolhouse was a log cabin that was built in 1816. The sisters taught a variety of subjects, including reading, writing, arithmetic, and geography. They also taught sewing and cooking.

The Warwick sisters' school was a popular destination for students from all over the county. They were known for their high standards and their ability to motivate their students. Many of their students went on to become successful in their own lives.

The Warwick sisters' school closed in 1836, when Mary Warwick died. Nancy Warwick continued to teach for a few more years, but she eventually retired and moved to Greenbrier County. She died in 1861.
