Judge George Warwick McClintic was a United States district judge of the United States District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia. He was born on January 14, 1866, in Pocahontas County, West Virginia, and died on September 25, 1942, in Charleston, West Virginia.
McClintic received his A.B. from Roanoke College in 1883 and his LL.B. from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1886. He was admitted to the bar and commenced private practice in Charleston, West Virginia, in 1888. He served as a delegate to the West Virginia State Legislature from 1919 to 1921.
On July 19, 1921, McClintic was nominated by President Warren G. Harding to a new seat on the United States District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia created by 42 Stat. 67. He was confirmed by the Senate on July 25, 1921, and received his commission on the same day. McClintic served in that capacity until his death on September 25, 1942.
During his tenure on the bench, McClintic was known for his strong work ethic and his commitment to justice. He was also a respected member of the legal community, and served as president of the West Virginia State Bar Association in 1928.
McClintic's legacy is one of integrity, dedication, and service. He was a respected jurist who made significant contributions to the legal system in West Virginia.
