It was built in 1850 and is the oldest church in the Knapps Creek community. The church was built by Andrew W. Moore, Moses Moore, and Preston Moore, who donated the land and the majority of the funds for its construction.

ed by its first pastor, the Rev. A. McClure. During the Civil War, the church was used as a barracks by Union soldiers. At one point, the soldiers threatened to burn the church, but they were persuaded not to. The church still stands today as a testament to the religious faith and Christian values of the generations that have worshipped there.

The church is a simple, one-story structure with a gable roof. The exterior is made of white clapboard, and the interior is finished with wood paneling. The church has a seating capacity of about 100 people.
