Game Plan Objective

Control time of possession, neutralize Meadow Bridge’s open-field team speed, and test their two-way interior line depth over four quarters with a disciplined, downhill ground attack.

1. Establish the Interior Heavy Ground Attack (Standard Downs)

  • Double-Team / Combo Blocks at the Point of Attack: Use tight line splits with offensive tackles and guards doubling Meadow Bridge’s defensive tackles before climbing to second-level linebackers.
  • Downhill Power & Iso Concepts: Run downhill isolation behind a lead fullback to pick up 4–5 yards per carry, keeping the offense ahead of the chains and taking away Meadow Bridge's quick-strike possessions.
  • Misdirection & Counter Traps: When the Wildcats' linebackers begin flowing fast toward initial backfield movement, counter back-side with pulling guards to exploit vacated cutback lanes.

2. Play-Action Over the Top (Short & Medium Yardage)

  • Hard Run-Action Fakes: Once Meadow Bridge stacks 8 defenders in the box to plug the run, use heavy under-center run fakes.
  • Targeting the Tight End & Slot Seams: Send the tight end on a seam or post-corner route into the void left behind biting linebackers and single-high safeties.
  • Bootlegs & Half-Rolls: Move the quarterback outside the pocket on bootleg concepts to create easy, run-or-throw perimeter options and clear passing lanes.

3. Red Zone & Short-Yardage Finishing

  • Unbalanced & Jumbo Sets: Line up extra offensive linemen or double tight ends to create an extra gap at the line of scrimmage that Meadow Bridge's smaller defensive front must account for.
  • Direct Hand-offs & QB Sneaks: Minimize lateral pitches inside the 10-yard line; maintain North-South momentum straight into the end zone.

4. Situational Clock Management

  • Drain the Play Clock: Run the play clock down inside 5 seconds before every snap to shorten the game, limit the total number of possessions, and wear down two-way players by the fourth quarter.
  • Eliminate Negative Plays: Prioritize ball security, avoid holding penalties behind the line, and stay out of obvious 3rd-and-long situations.
