Nobody wants to get involved before a decision is made and then everyone complains. Only a few want to volunteer to serve on committees and boards but when they have to make tough decisions those that don't bother complain and say they are doing bad. If you want to help the county, volunteer, run for office or at least be involved in the process instead of Monday morning quarterbacking every decision that's made and then calling foul play.

SWA is not the only entity with a conflict of interest. Check out the County Commission minutes. Go back a couple of years. I no longer live in Pocahontas County but will always call it home. But if 3 people are going make decisions that are going to affect all citizens that own property in the county, or the SWA making decisions, these decisions need to be made with the local citizens being the priority. Without the locals, the tourism dollars will be no more.

I agree that this should be thoroughly investigated. We as citizens doing our own jobs and handling our responsibilities shouldn’t have to babysit these committees of individuals who are chosen to do a job. People keep implying this is somehow the fault of the county tax payers. We elect, nominate, etc people for office and positions. We expect them to do their work. This is by no fault of the people that live here, pay taxes and go to work and show integrity daily. 

 

That seems to be the issue of those handling these issues. For once in my life, while I’m alive; I would love to see someone step up in this county, take responsibility and take steps to correct or address these serious issues without constantly blaming someone else. If you ask some they will tell you oh the County Commission has no say, others say, the county commission has lots of say.

 

 Even the state has given conflicting information about who’s responsible for what. It’s ridiculous!Someone knows the rules, policies, etc and needs to be implementing them because it’s their job and their duty! They are to also keep the best interest of the citizens in mind as that’s also a duty of those very positions!
