- There is something that we like,
-
And we seldom ever prosper
-
If that job we do not strike.
-
If we do what we are made for,
-
Work to us is only play,
-
We go out soon in the morning
-
And we soon have in the day.
-
Everybody has a calling,
-
But sometimes we do not find,
-
What is pleasant to the fingers,
-
And is easy for the mind.
-
And if we can never strike in,
-
On the the thing that we can do,
-
We are always feeling blue,
-
But are never very happy.
-
Everybody has a calling,
-
We are called to places big,
-
We are called to each position,
-
We are even called to dig.
-
But sometimes we miss our calling,
-
Just because we sight too high,
-
We can't be famous statesmen,
-
Only called to bake a pie.
