The Pocahontas County Commission is considering the reappointment of incumbent Dave McLaughlin, whose term on the Solid Waste Authority expires on June 30, 2026.
However, rather than quietly reappointing him, the commission decided to table the decision following intense public pushback and the submission of a multi-page petition. To ensure a more transparent process, the Commission scheduled a special interview session for June 30th to interview McLaughlin alongside two alternative candidates put forward by the public: Mike Murphy and Sam Collins.
The Pocahontas County Commission purchased the landfill property and transferred it into the Solid Waste Authority's name in March 2025.
