Three "weenie" pigs

The sources describe the story of three little pigs that were sold by H.B. Farnsworth, Chief of the Hot Springs police.

Here's what happened:

  • Farnsworth originally purchased three "weenie" pigs for $5.00 each.
  • The pigs were kept in a "little piggery" behind Farnsworth's house and grew to be "considerable porkers".
  • Clarence Criser approached Farnsworth and inquired about purchasing the pigs and what the price would be. Farnsworth, joking, replied that he wouldn't sell them for less than $112.50.
  • To Farnsworth's surprise, Criser returned a few days later and stated, "I'll take them at that price".
  • Farnsworth tried to explain that he was only joking, and the price was too high, but Criser insisted it was a bargain and was willing to pay that amount, which he did.
  • Before the new owner had proceeded 500 yards down the road with his purchases, another livestock man stopped his truck and begged to purchase the pigs for $126.00. The man got them, and the three little pigs went to market.
  • Chief Farnsworth did not sleep well that night because of this turn of events.
