Studwell Tater, also known as Norman Alderman, suffered a medical problem that resulted in two surgeries and the installation of a shunt into his skull to drain off excess spinal fluid.
Additional details about his illness include:
- He awoke with a pounding headache, which caused him to fall to the floor of his home.
- He was transported via helicopter to Ruby Memorial Hospital, where he had surgery to seal off two bleeding arteries.
- A circular coil was inserted into his skull to drain excess fluid.
- He spent 42 days in Ruby Memorial and Healthsouth (Rehab), during which time his muscles weakened to the point where he could barely turn over.
- He is now in rehab therapy at Seneca Trails Rehab located in Marlinton.
- He has to be careful not to fall and injure his head.
He notes that due to advancements in medicine and the services of the local hospital and emergency services, he was returned to health without physical paralysis or mental impairment.
Studwell Tater was his press persona for Pocahontas County's worst newspaper.
Note: This is old news. A aortic valve graft later, two neck surgeries and two heart stints after this he is at home with his precious wife for Christmas Eve 2024. God is good!
